Our road trip around the east coast of Canada began in New Brunswick as we found a cheap flight into and out of Moncton; we based our awkward circle/half back track drive from this point. We grabbed our rental car at the airport and headed off to our bed and breakfast for the night. The next morning we filled up with a delicious breakfast as fuel for our workout and drove the short distance to Cape Enrage to challenge ourselves in some cliff rappelling!
If you are a big Amazing Race fan as I am, the Canadian edition came through this area in spring just before we went in the summer. I didn’t know this though until it aired in September and I got to say “hey, I did that!!”. One member of the team had to rappel down the cliff as we did, grab a clue half way down and continue on to the zip-line.
All strapped in, getting nervous as I look over the edge!
Ok, I think I can do this. Until I get hooked in and ready to go over the edge and it is a whole other feeling.
Beautiful view though of the Bay of Fundy.
The cliff guides were amazing, they made you feel super confident and comfortable despite all the nerves. They remind you the hardest part is allowing yourself to take those first few steps over the edge, after that it, it’s fun!
If you are not a fan of heights you definitely won’t enjoy this; however, if you like to challenge your fears then this would be a great challenge. It is not that high, you are strapped in well, the worst part is the initial steps over; after that you can do it multiple times during your booked time frame.
If you are with a group of friends or family and you are worried people will be bored if some don’t want take part in the rappelling there’s no need to worry; there’s an area for children to play, a zip-line ($$), and the gorgeous view.
If fears are too strong or the budget is too tight then definitely still make a stop in this area if you are near by. The scenery is stunning, the lighthouse is a picture perfect image of the Canadian east coast and the beach is also a nice walk.
** Make sure to wear old clothes if you choose to go rappelling. They do inform you of this on the website. The black marks on my shirt are from the straps.
